Frequently Asked Questions
Q: My school has both Palm and Pocket PC
users. Does my school have to order two copies of
Pocket eSchool?
A: No; only one school license for Pocket
eSchool is needed. Pocket
eSchool's PC companion program can handle both Palm and
Pocket PC downloads at the same time. If you install
the companion program on a local area network, you can do the downloads to
Palms and/or Pocket PCs from several locations.
Q: Once I have Pocket eSchool at my school,
on how many Palms or Pocket PCs can I install Pocket eSchool?
A: There is no limit to the number of Palms
or Pocket PCs that you can use at a school where Pocket
eSchool is installed.
Q: Can I get a single license for all the
schools in my district?
A: At the present time, we are licensing
Pocket eSchool for use at a school rather than for the
entire district. However, pricing for multiple schools
in a district is negotiable.
Q: What kind of license do I need, as a
district superintendent, to have multiple schools' data on
my Palm or Pocket PC?
A: No additional license is required
to have more than one school's data on your Palm or Pocket
PC. Your use of Pocket eSchool is covered by each of
the school licenses.
Q: I would like to get Pocket eSchool in my
school.
What do I need to do for it to be installed in my school?
A: Send us a purchase order for Pocket
eSchool for your school. Once we have received your
purchase order, we will send you the activation and download
information for eSchool PDA Edition, Pocket eSchool's
PC companion program. This program is used to
move your school's data to your Palm or Pocket PC.
Q: Exactly what is involved in copying my
school's data to a Palm or a Pocket PC?
A: If you are a SASIxp or PowerSchool user,
you can use the newly-developed bridge procedures to move
your school's data to the Palm or Pocket PC. With
these procedures you can select the data you wish to move.
Most of the work is already done for you.
If you use neither SASIxp or PowerSchool,
please contact us. We are anxious to add bridge
procedures for other school systems. You may qualify
for a free copy of Pocket eSchool for helping us. If
you have the expertise in-house to export your
school's data, you can import the data. You are free to select the data you want to have on the Palm or the Pocket PC. The process of
accessing the exported data and moving it to the Palm or
Pocket PC is extensively described and illustrated in the
Pocket eSchool User Manual.

details. There are sample export/import files included
in the eSchool PDA Edition install package. Of course, EADS staff
is available to assist you and your staff in getting this
task done.
Q: Does Pocket eSchool work with a Mac?
A: Pocket eSchool's companion program is a
Windows program. Therefore, you must to have at
least one PC running Windows.
If you do not have a PC available, you could install
Virtual PC for Mac in order to emulate a PC.
