Installing Pocket eSchool |
If you do not own a Palm or Pocket PC but want to acquire one, you must decide between the two platforms. At the present time, the Palm version of Pocket eSchool runs faster than the Pocket PC version. Also, picture display is supported on the Palm but not on the Pocket PC. We are working on picture support for the Pocket PC but it has not yet been completed. Some people find that the Palm is much easier to use than the Pocket PC. Because Palms have been available for many more years than Pocket PCs, there is more third party software available for Palms than for Pocket PCs. This software gap has been narrowing in the past several years. In general, the Pocket PCs are more powerful and are better integrated with Windows desktop applications. Many articles have been written which describe the pros and cons of each of the platforms. One of the most recent is an article on PDAs in the July '04 edition of Consumer Reports. You can read a summary of this article at www.comsumerreports.org. If you get a Palm, be sure that it is running the Palm OS 5.0 or better and has an SD (Secure Digital) card slot. Pocket eSchools works with all versions of the Pocket PC.
